« 'The Amazing Race 6' Launch Date Announced | Main | 'Miss America' No Longer Has A Network »
ABC Orders Up More 'Desperate Housewives', 'Lost'
Posted by Rick Jessup, October 21 12:19 AM

It was 1993 when 'NYPD Blue' premiered to strong ratings when ABC last experienced a bonafide hit from a new drama series. What a difference 11 years can make as two of the biggest hits of the new television season both lie on the alphabet network with the list topped by 'Desperate Housewives' and closely followed by 'Lost'. Good news came for fans of those two series today when ABC ordered up full seasons of both shows, guaranteeing a chance to catch them for many more weeks to come.

Bad news, however, seems poised to arrive for fans of 'Alias' (myself included). With the unexpected success of 'Desperate Housewives' it seems 'Alias' may be seeking a new timeslot. After three seasons of critical success, cult followings, and mild ratings on Sundays at 9PM ET it is expected the show will move to Wednesdays to be paired up with JJ Abrams' other show, the aforementioned 'Lost'.

hmm
maybe moving it to wednesdays with lost will help its ratings - it won't have to compete with law and order anymore?

The surprising thing is that 'Desperate Housewives' is being watched by a lot of men as well as women, same as 'Alias'. So while the two shows may not seem to be paired well on paper, I believe pairing them on Sundays would actually be even smarter. But then again I'm not the head of a network, so wtf do I know? :)
