'GI Joe', 'Transformers' DVDs Getting Rereleased
Posted by Rick Jessup, May 4 04:13 PM

Before you run out and buy Rhino's exorbitantly priced DVD sets of 1980s cartoons 'GI Joe' and 'Transformers' take note - both series are scheduled to be redone and rereleased in the near future. Rhino has released the following statement:

Rhino's deal with Sunbow, the licensor of Transformers, GI Joe and Jem, has expired.
Sony Music has acquired them and will reissue these titles at some point.

While fairly extensive the DVDs for the series - released in half-season increments - typically ran between $85 and $100 Canadian, far more than the average TV show on DVD. The entire original 'Transformers' series has already been released, with 'GI Joe' having three box sets up to the first half of season two.
