ABC Announces Four Summer Reality Series
Posted by Rick Jessup, April 29 09:28 AM

ABC, like the other networks, will be looking to a reality-heavy summer lineup this year - they have announced four new reality concepts or remakes for this 2005 summer season. Their summer season kicks off Wednesday, June 1st at 9PM with 'Dancing With the Stars', a six-episode adaptation of BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The series will team six celebrities with six professional dancers in an 'American Idol'-like dance competition. Each week viewers will vote for their favourite, with the celebrity receiving the least votes being voted off. Monday, June 6th at 8PM will offer 'The Scholar', starring 10 of the smartest high school students in America competing for a $250,000 scholarship to the post secondary establishment of their choice. July will bring 'Brat Camp', another British import featuring six families sending their difficult teens (aged 14-19) to Sagewalk Wilderness Therapy Camp, a therapeutic wilderness intervention program in Oregon. Finally, 'Welcome to the Neighborhood' will take seven ethnically diverse families and have them compete for a dream home, with their future neighbors deciding which of the families will win. In addition to these new concepts, ABC also announced a new 10-episode run of their popular 'Wife Swap' series.
