Mark Burnett Sues Due to 'The Apprentice' Challenges
Posted by Rick Jessup, March 9 09:28 AM

Mark Burnett Productions, the group behind 'Survivor' and 'The Apprentice', have issued a lawsuit to an entertainment company, accusing them of misleading advertisers into paying exorbitant prices to appear in challenges on the third installment of NBC's 'The Apprentice'. The lawsuit, filed last week, claims Madison Road Entertainment had told advertisers they had exclusive rights to broker agreements, causing some advertisers to pay 250% more than was paid to Burnett. The companies in question were not named, but companies such as Pepsi-Cola and Burger King have been featured so far this season. The lawsuit further noted that companies were charged in advance for "consideration", even though they were never used on the show. Burnett noted that his company only used Madison Road when they themselves were mislead into thinking they had exclusive rights to negotiate on behalf of large advertisers, which proved to be untrue.
