The
Jack Adams Award is awarded annually to the ECHL General Manager judged to have contributed most to the team's success. The winner is selected by
the ECHL GM Awards Committee at the end of the regular season.
The award in named in honour of Jack Adams, former coach and general manager of the Detroit Red Wings.
It was first awarded in 1974. It was purchased by the ECHL prior to the 2004-2005 season.
ECHL4 Jack Adams Award Winner
MARK MARANZAN, Tampa Bay Lightning
When Maranzan took his 7th place club to a Stanley Cup victory in ECHL2 there were many who called it a fluke; surely this man who made so few deals had
simply lucked into success. But ECHL3 brought destruction to the East with 123 points on 59 wins, new records for regular season success, and
it was harder to argue with Maranzan's deft abilities for building a team. ECHL4 brought small changes to the Lightning but the results were stunning - yet
again, an ECHL record for points and wins with 132 points on 61 wins. In fact, Maranzan's Lightning lost only 11 games all season long, putting up an
unbelievable .804 winning percentage. Maranzan's results will be the standard by which all teams are judged in the future.
