The Phantoms game last night

The Phantoms game last night was a lot of fun. As you can see from that beautiful webcam shot it was free mask night. Alex and I bought some cheap seats and, keeping my tradition alive, promptly strolled down to the railing against the end zone instead. I’m making a habit out of this. Some would say I’m being immoral and committing illegal acts, I just say I’m making the arena look a bit more full on television. I wish I’d taped it because, being seated at the end zone, and me with my stupid-a$$ mask on, we would have been all over Sportsnet last night. I even wore my XFL jersey! :) Unfortunately our beloved Phantoms lost the game after giving the ball away three times in the second half.

I’ll be posting the Friday quiz a bit later tonight so check back.

In the meantime, for those of you leaving early for the big Canada Day weekend, have a great time, play safe, don’t drink and drive, and remember – celebrate the birth of our great Country by blowing up a small part of it. Get them fireworks! WOOOOOO!!!!

Cheers,
Rick Jessup

I’m getting ready to go

I’m getting ready to go catch my first Toronto Phantoms game tonight as the gent that does my AFL picks for GamingJackpots.com is in town to cheer on the Los Angeles team, and believe it or not, is actually staying in Palgrave, only minutes north of me. He and I will be joining Alex for some grub and the game. I’m not big on the CFL or NFL, although I was a fan of the XFL as the game was fast. I understand that there are some rule differences with the AFL that help speed it up and alter it a bit too so that should be cool.

This whole elephant’s toes thing was for that Google Challenge – I had a button for it down there on the right – but the contest was closed after Google got upset with the gent running it for sending artificial traffic. Oh well, I promise not to repeat that phrase again.

By the time you read this the latest site I’ve been working on with some others should be launched. I don’t own it or run it or anything like that, I merely got them off the ground with it and designed the actual theme and games and such. It’s an online casino, so if you like to gamble a bit (I don’t.. hehe..) maybe you can give it a once over and let me know what you think? http://www.vegasplayerscasino.com/ is the URL. If you go there and the Download page doesn’t work just check back in a few hours, I’m told it will launch at 2:30.

Cheers,

Wow.. so a few days

Wow.. so a few days since an update, but I had my reasons. The Relay for Life was extremely difficult, but an absolutely amazing event that was planned perfectly and seemed to go off without a hitch. My initial thanks need to go to Alex, Carrie, Christine, Mary, Ray, Rob, Stephen, Nan, Bumps, and my parents for contributing donations towards the cause. I personally raised over $150 towards the Canadian Cancer Society. The event featured no fewer than 40-50 teams of 10, all who contributed some amount, so no doubt the event was a success.

We arrived around 6PM and started unloading what I thought was way too much stuff (I ended up being right). I personally brought a small backpack of stuff, a blanket and pillow, and a cooler full of drinks for everyone. Somehow we ended up, between nine of us, with three tents, four coolers/baskets, and bags upon bags upon bags of stuff. It looked like we were staying a week. We certainly wouldn’t want for anything while we were there, and if we had, the volunteers and great sponsoring companies took care of it. There were full dinners and breakfasts, snacks, yogurts, apples, bananas, Gatorade, coffee, tea, you name it. It was ALWAYS there. There were live bands and karoake, games like volleyball and glowing mini golf, and an awesome set of portable toilets featuring a logo containing a sweating bear running for the door. :)

The team (consisting of the captain, my sister Kim, her husband Jeff, myself, Sandy Young, Barb Luxton, Chad Critchley, Cari Critchley, and their parents Jack and Connie Critchley) then began with me, Kim, and Jack starting things off. One team member had to be on the track at all times. As a team I believe we managed somewhere in the area of 170 laps of the 1-mile track. I personally managed 20 of them, although most came in the early parts of the night, from about 8PM until a bit after midnight.

I won’t bore you with details – thanks to all that donated, and I’m still trying to recover. :) Walking 20 miles in a night can hurt when you’re not used to it. Hehe..

Because I was doing this over Friday night I didn’t have a chance to do my weekly questions post – I’ll get that tomorrow morning instead. Incidentally, I won’t be making it to Vegas this week so I’m still around if needed. You know where to find me!

Cheers,
Rick Jessup

A few things to talk

A few things to talk about today.

First, huge shock yesterday when a letter arrived from an old friend I had thought I’d never hear from again. I took her up on the offer to make a phone call and had a great discussion catching up after all these years. On the off-chance she does happen to drop by the site – there was one thing I took away from the film Vanilla Sky, and that was “but how could I enjoy the sweet of life without the bitter?” Hang in there. :)

Second, I’m peering through those Google search terms again today, to see what people search to find my site. So I’ve got a question about these two:

kanata strippers
grand prix and strippers and montreal

Ok, I’m quite certain I spend very minimal time on this site talking about strippers, so why is it I’m turning up on Google like this? Something is up. But, alas, I can offer you no information about your requested searches. Actually, I can tell you that the Grand Prix in Montreal is apparently owned by the cops and the taxi drivers are paid extra to take you there, so simply ask your cabbie to take you there and he will. I know this because the cabbie Steve, Brent, and I got to get back to the hotel after Raw was all but insisting we went there. We didn’t. Sorry to disappoint.

Oh, and on those search terms – Steve, Alex, and Sionne – someone is looking for you.

Cheers,
Rick Jessup
