On June 23, 2002, one day after my Dad's 50th birthday, we surprised him with a surprise party at The Angry Tomato chock full of his close friends and family. As you'll probably be able to tell from the video, he did appear to be surprised. It was a great night full of food, music, and just a little bit of boozing. :) In the end, I snapped about 80 pictures and pared them down to the small video you'll see here. Right at the beginning you'll see a series where he looks a bit surprised to see someone - that someone was an old friend named Cal Russell, who now makes his residence in Australia where he coaches hockey. He had been in town to meet up with another old friend, Rob Ross, and the three of them appear in one shot early on. It was the first time in MANY years that all three had been together. Now THAT'S how to pull off a surprise party!
