Jason Lee Contracts Chicken Pox
ABC has confirmed that freshman comedy hit My Name is Earl is on a temporary hiatus after star Jason Lee contracted adult-onset chicken pox. While the rest of the cast managed to escape unscathed, the disease is expected to keep Lee on the shelf for as long as three weeks, and even longer when one takes the visual elements of the condition into account. “He’ll be in all the episodes,” creator Greg Garcia said. “We’re just shut down until he is feeling better and is presentable to put on TV again. So, yeah, we are not doing episodes without him.” Garcia also stopped short of accepting the diagnosis of chicken pox: “Well, I mean, first of all, we think it’s chickenpox.. I saw him shake Charlie Sheen’s hand at the Golden Globes, and the next morning he woke up with bumps all over him, so it could be anything.”
