Fans of video games haven’t had much to get excited about when it’s come to theatrical releases in the past. However, it may be time to allow yourself a little excitement with the pending release of ‘Doom’, loosely based on the third installment of the video game series. Empire Online had a chance to speak with The Rock about his role in the film, and he responded: “I’m playing the commanding officer who, without ruining it for everyone, turns bad, which is great. I’m so excited about that movie, I’ll tell you why. Number one, it’s my first rated-R movie and it’s a very unapologetic rated-R movie. Not only that, but the monsters are real, they’re not CGI.” And now, for those who stuck with the entry this far, a picture from the set:

Quentin Tarantino To Helm a New ‘Friday the 13th’?
This one is interesting. Filmforce is reporting that famed writer/director Quentin Tarantino is currently in talks with New Line Cinema to get in the Director’s chair for a new installment in the popular, but floundering, ‘Friday the 13th’ movie series. The hope is to pair up with Paramount Pictures and create a quickly shot and produced film. Where does this put the rumoured second film in the ‘Jason vs. Freddy’ series? Last week the project was shelved, with rumours circulating that a just-as-unlikely Director is looking to get behind the camera on a new, darker ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ film.

Denise Richards Files for Divorce
In a move likely to shock tens and tens of people Denise Richards has filed for divorce from Charlie Sheen. She has cited the oft-cited “irreconcilable differences”. The 34-year-old movie star is currently six-months pregnant with the couple’s second child, and their first will be one year old next week. The couple met on the set of the 2000 film ‘Good Advice’, and Richards later did a guest starring role on Sheen’s sitcom ‘Spin City’. The marriage was the second for Sheen and first for Richards.
