‘Deathrace 2000’ Remake A Go

Kip, you’re freeing up the opening weekend for this one. Paul WS Anderson has been tasked with writing and directing the sequel to Kip and my childhood favourite flick ‘Deathrace 2000’ – ‘Deathrace 3000’. The even better news is the fact that today’s tree hugging society won’t have any say in the film, with Anderson promising “the original was so much about decimating pedestrians that the actual race was almost irrelevant, and I want to restore that. Set in 2020, ours is an ultraviolent, no-holds-barred race with heavily armed Escalades, Ferraris and Aston Martins.” It is rumoured that Tom Cruise will star with at least a guest appearance by the star of the original, Sylvester Stallone. 10 points for that.
The original focused on a cross-country car race where combatants earned extra points for killing pedestrians along the way. One particularly memorable scene saw a local hospital holding “Euthanasia Day” by placing all the sick and elderly in wheelchairs along the front entrance of the hospital. This ain’t a Disney film, folks.
