Let the Truth Sting

Mookie MorrisGood news, ‘Canadian Idol‘ fans. Every year here in Bolton we have the Fall Fair at the Albion Bolton Community Centre. It’s got a midway with rides and prizes, 24-hour goldfish, carnies, drag races and demolition derbies, cattle, just about all the fun stuff you might expect. This year, however, it’s got Drew Wright and Mookie Morris. Seems quite the coup to snag these two ‘Idol’ hopefuls who will be performing surrounding bike races and the demolition derby. Drew’s in on Friday night, Mookie on Saturday. Who’s in? I can sweeten the deal by pointing you towards The Angry Tomato and their alligator appetizer. A chance to hang out with Mookie Morris, named after the game-winning Mookie Wilson home run, and eat alligator meat! True story.
Excellent news on the ‘Hockey Night in Canada’ front, assuming we’re all over the fact that the theme song changed. Bob Cole is being replaced by Jim Hughson! The next game I hear Bob Cole call without frequent screw-ups will be the first, and I’m happy with this news.
Finally, ‘Big Brother’ fans, check out this blog posting from a fan who attended the finale for some insight from inside. Turns out most of the signs are plants by CBS! It’s true, the dude with the yellow “MARRY ME, KEESHA!” sign didn’t want to marry Keesha at all. Why bother, he can get the milk for free on YouTube.
Happy birthday to my sister, Kim! You ARE the birthday boy or girl. ;)

  1. Bob Cole will always be a legend in my book…. he called so many Boston Bruins classic playoff games during his career. Bruins in the Finals, B’s beating the Habs in the old Adams Division playoffs, classics!

  2. Mookie Morris will always be a legend in my book…. he sang so many classic tunes during his Canadian Idol stint. I dreamt of Mookie in the Finals, Mookie beating Theo, singing classics!

  3. Rick Jessup will always be a legend in my book…. he’s written so many classic overanything blogs during his career. He might even get his ECHL Bruins in the Finals, His B’s beating Houses Rangers in the playoffs would be classic!

  4. Rick, You insult me with your rudeness. Bob Cole is a good friend of mine and should be RESPECTED for all the great games he’s called and not nitpick the few mistakes he’s made. SHAME on you.

  5. House agrees with me regarding Bob Cole.

  6. House, I’m starting to realize that every time I start posting more frequently it takes about five posts before I say something to really offend you. I think you’ll have to just come to terms with the fact you’re easily offended. I’m sure Colesy is a great guy, but you’ll have to allow me to be happy Hughson’s taking his place. Personal taste.

  7. Jim Huseyon is a pompous ass. He does a terrible job of conveying the flow a hockey game. He is monotone and irritating. He is best suited to call Baseball.
I’ll take Bob missing a players # once in a while. At least he was awesome to listen to.

  8. I’m surprised you didn’t say the real reason people in this part of the country want him gone.

  9. I actually don’t know, but I assume you feel he’s not a Leafs fan? The only reason I’m not sad to see him go is because he can never seem to figure out which team has the puck, and especially which player. It’s distracting and I expect more from Canada’s flagship hockey program.

  10. Now, I have to say this: The uneducated fans on the West Coast hate Cole and make fun of him every chance they get. Those west coasters are just plain dumb.
But Cole is a legend for sure, in my book.
Hughson? OVerrated. He was irritating, at best, when he did baseball for TSN. And I would have to say I didn’t–and still don’t–enjoy him calling hockey either.
I just don’t understand Rick’s bias against Cole.

  11. Rick is part American. He can’t follow the puck unless a deadpan play-by-play guy tells him where it is.

  12. Seriously, you’re going to heckle my desire for a broadcaster who can string 10 sentences together without an error? Cole’s best days are long, long gone. Go back and listen to anything from the past few seasons, the mistakes are NOT few and far between.

  13. I suggest you stop your harassment of an Canadian icon. You are making kp look smart.
