Honky Tonk Union

I’ve got two things I wanted in the past week!
First, a new pair of black 8-hole Docs. Since Kip introduced them to me somewhere during our early years I’ve been addicted to them, but had found them increasingly difficult to find as the years wore on and they became less inviting to the younger set. Thankfully, not only did I find a pair, but they were only $99, which makes me happy. The sales lady seemed to think I was lying when I told her I went through a pair every couple of years, wondering aloud if I “did a lot of s–t kicking” with them. Life is never boring.
Second, I finally got a new quote on a Starbucks cup! For weeks it’s been #170 about stupid dancing every freaking day. Finally, today, I get the insightful wisdom of Starbucks customer Laura Gremillion:

The Way I See It #219
The most relevant pieces of advice I received regarding marriage: You can only be as happy as the least happy person in the house, and two bathrooms are mandatory.

Truth. My marriage advice has always been much simpler:
The Way Rick Sees It #1
Elope.

I’m still waiting for my cup.
Rick’s latest addiction? Radio Paradise.

  1. For shoes, http://www.zappos.com – they totally have a great Docs selection. Right now they only ship to the USA, but you do know people there who can bring them back for you!

  2. Funny, I don’t even wear Doc Martens anymore. I’m more about combat boots or work boots now. Loved them forever, but I just haven’t worn them for almost 5 years.

  3. Rick I was completely disappointed with this article. Here you are talking about the 2 best things that happened this past week and you say nothing about the return of RCPM to Toronto!!
    RCPM > crappy shoes.

  4. RCPM aren’t back yet. Give it time.
Besides, you’ll probably find some other reason not to go anyways, and I’ll be posting more pictures of me on Rog hanging out. :D

  5. Right because being in a car accident and my car being totalled isn’t a good reason. Does it make you feel like a big man yo put people down?
And I believe I already said let get tickets.

  6. Shaz, I’ll be sure to check Zappos. I’ll have some sent to your place to pick up when I make my eventual promised journey to Milwaukee.
Which reminds me, I should book that for the end of my contract here, so at least I’d have a few days to enjoy before either venturing off to a new project or continuing on here.
