You’d think with DVD releases of ‘Enos’ and ‘Who’s the Boss?’ that they had finally run out of things to issue. Such would not be the case with the announcement that Fremantle plans to release DVDs of game shows starting in 2006. One such “game show” would be ‘American Idol’, which the company owns the DVD rights to. The VP of Development for Fremantle, Sam Toles, indicated to Video Business magazine that the company is currently researching their archives and ensuring all rights are cleared, and preparing extra content that may appear on the discs. It is expected production could begin on their DVDs in about five months, with 25 planned titles in 2006. Some of the titles, other than ‘American Idol’, you can expect will be ‘The Price is Right’, ‘Press Your Luck’, ‘Family Feud’, ‘Match Game’, and ‘Whammy!’. ‘American Idol’ would likely be released in full season sets, with the other shows being released as special editions such as “funniest moments”.
