Well, day 2 I suppose. Yesterday was a travel day, and in my ongoing efforts to save money I went and put myself through quite the time. Stayed over in Buffalo Sunday night, then off to he airport at 5AM to fly from Buffalo to Seattle, via Chicago (little Wilco shout-out there). From Seattle it was public transit to get downtown, then walked to the Greyhound depot to get tickets to a four hour bus ride up the coast to Vancouver. Arrived in Vancouver, around 5PM Vancouver time, leaving about a 15-hour travel time. Ack.
However, I’m here now and it’s a great little city. Haven’t had much to see yet, except for dinner at Feenie’s last night. I had the famous calamari sandwich from the commercial and it was cooked perfectly. The french onion soup, as suggested by Steve (my Vancouver friend who’s letting me stay at his place), was as advertised – very good.
Not sure what’s on the schedule today except for visit to cafe #1 – probably Caffe Artigiano, home of the Canadian Barista Champion and the Silver medalist at the World Barista Championships. I’ve been told to try the Spanish Latte.
Did I forget to mention I have a cold that’s literally kicking my butt. Argh..
I am paying $600 to fly to Vancouver in mid-May. Just curious, how much your trip cost.
Plane ticket was $320CDN, hotel was $97USD, Greyhound was $26USD. The cheapest flight I could find after Jetsgo went under was $685 on Westjet, but still substantially more than I payed.
wow. feenie’s prices are definitely lower than i’d expected.
Feenie’s is the “cheaper” alternative to his main restaurant, Lumiere. However, Lumiere now appears to be closed. Not sure if that’s temporary or not, but it was shut tight the other night.
