Here’s a fun story! Yanks fan wins 1-day naming rights for Boston arena. It would appear the Boston home of the Bruins and Celtics, formerly known as the FleetCenter, has been without a name since FleetBoston Financial was purchased by Bank of America, who opted against retaining the naming rights. So the owners have been auctioning off one-day naming rights for charity recently. Now it seems a lob in a 20-year Sox/Yanks war between friends has resulted in a Yankee fan making the winning $2,325USD bid. His choice? “The Derek Jeter Center”, of course named after the famed Yankees shortstop. Jim Delaney, an arena spokesman, noted “that name may not be as bad as A-Rod, but it’s still considered obscene.”
