‘American Idol’ Returns

Tomorrow marks the start of rendition four of Fox’s popular ‘American Idol’, and changes are afoot. As reported previously there was a rift between executives at the network and those at the show, who hoped to make changes to the stale format. Fox felt the show was popular and, with their luck, didn’t want to risk tinkering with what worked. However, a few changes will be evident during tomorrow’s premiere. The maximum age of contestants has been raised from 26 to 28, allowing more experienced singers a chance at success. The next largest change is being highlighted only as a semi-finals “Battle of the Sexes”, although more information is not yet forthcoming. What probably won’t change is another generic, poor-selling candyfloss artist taking home the crown long after I’ve stopped watching.
