Migraines Cause Brain Lesions?

WebMDHealth is reporting that a recent study may have found a link between severe migraine headaches and lesions on the brain. The study, by Mark C Kruit, MD of Leiden University in the Netherlands and Lenore J Launer, PhD, chief of the neuroepidemology section at the US National Institute on Aging, will be reported in the January 28th issue of ‘The Journal of the American Medical Association’.

The researchers were quick to note that migraine sufferers should not immediately think the worst, but rather those with severe headaches should be sure to get them checked out by a doctor so proper treatment can be initiated. The study also found that the brain lesions were only more common in women suffering from migraines, while male sufferers saw no increase at all.
