So it is 6 pm last night and the issues at the house across the street are now fixed but it is a rather poor cleanup attempt on the driveway. Dirt and gravel laid down quite carelessly. Oh well – better them than me.
Anyhow, I proceed to finally turn on my taps. Just to make sure they are working. They are not. None of them. I call the water works and tell them that I have no water. I mention that there was a problem across the street and wanted to know when that would be fixed. Buddy tells me that problem was fixed this morning. It no longer is an issue. I probably have frozen pipes. Tells me to check downstairs where the water comes into the house. I check – they are not frozen. I tell the guy on the phone that there isn’t a problem inside the house. He sighs loudly, whines that the problems just don’t stop and that he’ll send someone out to check it out – in the meantime tells me to use a blowdryer on my ‘frozen pipes’.
3 hours later still no one has come to look at my pipes. I phone back – speak to a very crusy, old, unionized city employee who is beyond useless. Mumbles his way thru a conversation. Ensures me that the problems that happened across the street in no way is causing my water no to be on. Tells me that the external crew is busy and that they aren’t taking anymore calls – but that I am in the queue. Can’t tell me when they will come to my place. Tells me to keep blow drying.
An hour later (it is past 10 now) – I phone again. Get no answer. Phone the North York WW – tell them the Scarborough line isn’t being picked up – am told that the Scarborough guy probably was at the washroom and that he is back now. Get patched thru to the crusty old moron again – discover Scarborough has all of one crew working for the entire city. This crew isn’t accepting even calls from this guy. Unreal.
11 o’clock rolls around – I call to find out if this great crew stops working at some point – or if there is a chance they could come like at 3am. Am told they are on there way.
They come 5 minutes later. Come look at my pipes. They tell me they aren’t frozen. They tell me the problem is outside. (My blood pressure is beyond safe levels at this point). They do some poking and proding outside. They determine that when the crew filled in the hole they dug up in the morning – they either a) forgot to turn my water back on or b) they filled the hole too quickly and my pipes got frozen. They will send a crew to check it out this morning.
The crew comes – they do the exact same checks the two people did last night. They need to send the digging crew – no idea when they will come.
I still have no water. I am not happy. My toilet is starting to look like something you’d see at an Interstate Highway Gas Station.
A guy just came with a metal detector. He went across the street to where the issues were happening yesterday. Appearently found what he was looking for, spray painted it blue and then he left.
Wow- that bites ass. Forget going postal…you should go ‘h2o’ on their asses!!!
hang in there…
tell them if it’s not fixed within 24 hrs you’re going to send them your hotel bill ’cause you’ll stay in a hotel until it’s fixed!
