So I am taking my shower this morning and I am hearing this unusual
clunking/thumping sound. I’m like what the heck is that? I continue to
hear the sound. I finish my shower and then investigate. I go thoroughout
the house and hear it in various pockets. I check the furnace – but it’s
fine. Strange. I finally decide to look outside and see if I can
determine
the cause of this noise…hmmm…everything seems ok…but wait…the
neighbour across the street – his driveway doesn’t have snow on it like
everyone else. I open the door….ahhh yes….there’s the answer. Water,
water everywhere! It’s gushing from this guys driveway. All over the
place there is water streaming/cascading into the sewer. Crazy stuff.
I call the Water Works department and am told they have already been called on this issue.
About 45 minutes later the crew comes. I am told that the main water main broke for the entire street. They are shuting down the water supply for the next 8-9 hours. The driveway across the street has cracked and partially caved in. The water people are going to have to dig some holes into the ground.
