Message In A Bottle

Kim has an interesting post up on her site about a letter that was recently delivered to a small town in Quebec after being sent December 19, 1901.
It got me wondering – has anyone ever partaken in the sending of bottled messages, or tied their name and address to a balloon and let it go, in hopes of one day hearing back? When I was a lot younger that was always a cool thing for us to do. We’d put our phone numbers and addresses in a bottle and set it loose down the Humber River, and we never heard back. It’s something I’ll probably do if I get on another cruise – set my e-mail address loose in the Caribbean and see who picks it up.
Just wondering if anyone has tried it, and if so, any success?
Cheers!
