Mike Douglas Dead at 81
One of the forefathers of evening talk shows, Mike Douglas, has died on his 81st birthday. The popular singer through the 1950s is best known for The Mike Douglas Show, an evening variety and talk show that ran from 1961 to 1982, making him a household name worldwide. He had been born in Chicago and began singing in supper clubs as a teenager, later partaking in World War II, and returning home to his singing career after. CBS Launches Fall Schedule
CBS has forgone the concept of staggering premieres launched by other networks with the announcement that all 22 falls shows will premiere starting Thursday, September 14th. Survivor: Cook Islands will start the 2005/06 CBS season, and the final premieres will arrive Sunday, September 24th with new timeslots for The Amazing Race, Cold Case, and Without A Trace.
