As if Fox’s ‘The Next Great Champ’ debacle wasn’t enough of a shot it seems the odds will be against NBC’s ‘The Contender’ when it launches next month. Already the most expensive reality show ever made, and now with the stigma of a contestant suicide, the oft-delayed show will have heavy competition when it premieres at 9:30PM on March 7th. CBS will be airing brand new episodes of ‘Two And A Half Men’ and ‘CSI: Miami’, while ABC will combat ‘The Contender’ on its first regular Sunday night timeslot with a double-sized episode of ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’. To allow themselves this luxury CBS will take the rare chance of running repeat broadcasts during the final day of February sweeps, the time of year when most networks air exciting, hyped broadcasts to inflate their numbers to advertisers.
