Infoseek offers integrated directory and search results concept. For instance, you can enter a directory of music and then begin searching for your favourite band. Here are some more hints:

Make sure you properly direct your search to the right section of the Internet. If you're looking for newsgroup posts, you won't find too many searching Web sites!
Use quotations around phrases to make searches easier. If you are searching for the magazine Rolling Stone, put it in quotes or you will get results containing all pages using the words rolling or stone.
Use + or - to ensure words are either positively in the search, or positively left out!
If you're searching for pictures, use the command image: keyword to find any pictures about that subject.
