Excite used to be known for it's concept search rather than the more
common keyword search, but nowadays, that isn't so uncommon. Excite's
popularity lies now in their tour options which will link you to
Webpages offering advice and instruction on your request. Here are some
searching tips:
- Use the More Like This function which appears after each result in
the list. If you find one page to be particularly useful, this function will
offer more pages common to this page, not to your initial search query.
- Capitalize the first letters of names.
- Use the Sort By Site function. This will ensure you don't continue
to get a listing of every actor in the movie Singles after a search of
the movie title -- it will place all sites at http://www.imdb.com into
one search spot.
- Use a + or - sign to signify words that must or must not appear in your
search results.
- You can refine your search with the pulldown menu under the search box.
