Just Like Mom II: The Wrath of Khan
Posted by Rick Jessup, May 12 11:54 AM

Believe it or not the one single post, aside from the one of Christina Aguilera's dress (don't look it up, I had to change the picture for reasons I can get into later), that generates the most traffic and feedback here is this one on my appearance on the old CTV kids game show Just Like Mom. In fact, it's this very post that brought a good RJ.com friend and frequent commenter, Cliff Coleclough, to this site.

So here's the long story for those that visit this site searching Just Like Mom, and I know there are a lot of you. I had an ex-girlfriend who worked in Research and Archives of CTV and I had her attempt to dig up my old tape and was told that they'd been destroyed. Fast forward about 5 disheartening years when I was prompted by another visitor to try again. I contacted Jennifer in CTV's Archive Sales department to check on two things - one, are the tapes really gone, and two, if they are can they contact the people I was on the show with to see if they have tapes they wouldn't mind making copies of. Seemed logical enough.

Jennifer wrote back "unfortunately it is the records that were never kept. Most of the tapes exist, but we have no idea what's on them without screening - a time consuming and therefore very expensive process." The tapes exist! To me, that's the operative portion of that sentence. The tapes are there, but nobody has taken the time to archive them and find out exactly what or who is on each one.

What I'd like to do is collect some names and e-mails/phone numbers of those of you visiting this site that have been on this show and want a copy of your tape. I can provide you with Jennifer's phone number of e-mail address, but I won't post it here to respect her privacy. Just E-mail me with either your contact info if you want a tape, or a request for Jennifer's info if you want to talk to her directly. If we could ever generate enough names I'm sure we could convince them to hire a co-op student or two interest in research and archives courses at Sheridan College to get to work for us.

One day the World shall see me with curly blonde hair and a 3-piece suit getting 0 points. ;)

Cheers!

Fergie Olver, Catherine Swing what a tandem. And who remembers that Stephen Young hosted the first year.

And what was the name of that camp people won prizes to go to - Camp Ochawganesishes? Something like that?

That bonus wheel was rigged.

Also, Catherine use to give people the entire run down of the recipe before the kids got to make their crap. Later on, I think they just started to name the item, but didn't give the required ingredients.

I recall one mother almost puking when she tried one of the items the kids made.

I also recall a special Just Like Dad episode ot two.

Wasn't Blue Jays Paul Beeston once on the show?

Gees - I think I remember a bit too much about this show.
