Cult favourite and critically acclaimed singer Elliott Smith has died; the cause is unknown. The 34-year-old singer/songwriter had been hard at work on his 6th album titled "From A Basement On The Hill" in his home.

Smith came to attention upon the release of his 1998 major-label debut "XO", but became a star after performing his Oscar nominated "Miss Misery", from the film 'Good Will Hunting'.
