It’s not a good week to be Mel Gibson. Only days after his epic ‘The Passion of the Christ’ was shut out of the Best Picture nominations at the Academy Awards ABC has ended his executive produced sitcom ‘Complete Savages’. At the recent Television Critics Association press tour the critics hotel rooms were furnished with a DVD containing episodes of the show and a note from creators Julie and Mike Scully: “We feel ‘Complete Savages’ has a place on TV. Right now, unfortunately, that place is No. 82. That’s where you come in.”
Too little too late as ABC has pulled the show effectively immediately, replacing it with repeats of ‘8 Simple Rules’. There is a chance the show will return in March, following February sweeps.
